That’s the thing: it’s great to demand it, but less so when you are the one being made accountable and even more ethereal, more elusive, when accountability – as in this case – means subjecting one’s self to scrutiny.
I am motivated by two goals, each entwined with the other. First, to build a writing habit and, second, to build a healthy reading habit. The two can of course relate with one another virtuously. Reading – proper reading, preferably – can generate responses, whether thoughts, sighs, despair. More important, reading must focus minds to write, the act of which distills and synthesizes different threads. It can result in an output of sorts, much like this site.
So here goes everything. A book every week, chosen wisely or through whimsy.
